The Little Things

October 22, 2009

Today is a good day I think to be grateful for the little things.  An example:

I have a coworker who occasionally brings in snacks for the general-purpose munching of the “office” (I am generally included in this group, even though I spend most of my time in the workshop, not the office).  I am grateful for this.

I am still more grateful that, the other day, this coworker brought in some wasabi peas.  I don’t really care for wasabi peas, mind you, but I have another coworker who had no idea what they are.

I am grateful that I was standing there when he took his first heaping handful.

I love wasabi peas. I also love watching people eat them for the first time: their slightly curious hesitation; their innocent faces changing from pleasure to horror in the blink of an eye as the horseradish makes its initial assault on their sinuses, promising the overwhelming affliction yet to come…
