Whew!
March 16, 2009
I have been battling more mood swings, lately, and tried to keep away from the blog so as to avoid dragging any of the rest of you along. It seems that while I was gone I got in a little trouble for my discussion of the recent developments in ‘Bekah’s family. In the event that any of the rest of you have had similar misgivings, let me just stop you right there – I had them first. I didn’t even write about most of this stuff for a couple of weeks while it shook out, even though I thought about it every day, talked to Rebekah about it every day, was forced to worry every day about dozens of sordid little eventualities, some of which have come to pass, some of which we can still worry about.
Bottom line, I have shown and will continue to show as much respect as I possibly can to Merlyn and Rebekah’s wishes; I have pestered them both plenty of times on the subject, and they have both assured me that I have not overstepped my bounds – I guess you have to be pretty old to consider someone who’s been as close as I have to ground zero for five years a “newcomer” to the situation, and nobody can deny that my life is pretty thoroughly entangled in this particular skein, so I guess I’ve bought my ticket and can say as I like.
Anyhow, I’m back from my hiatus now, and will try to resume posting as regularly as possible. As for the whole Paulson family situation, with any luck there won’t be any need to talk about it for awhile, as it has quieted down now after the initial salvos, and those of us living in the trenches are just keeping our heads down and waiting until the shelling starts up again. Hopefully ‘Bekah will be able to finish out her time at the school with her usual grace, and then things will be a good deal better around here for a while.
